Play Along
Learn a song faster
A set of tools for learning new music. Put a click over any song so you can hear where the beat really sits, bookmark the bar that keeps catching you out and jump straight back to it, slow the track down until your hands can keep up, and move it into your own key. Everything stays in time with the recording while you do it.
Load a track, start it, then tap Start Click on a downbeat — the click locks to exactly where you tapped. If it ever slides, tap Re-sync Beat on a one and it locks again.
Paste a YouTube link
Quickest way in, and it works with anything you can find online. You get the click, the beat counter, bookmarks for the tricky bars, and the gap trainer.
Or load an audio file more to work with
A file off your phone or computer unlocks the rest, because the browser can actually read the audio — which it is not allowed to do with YouTube:
- The tempo and key are worked out for you, so you know what you are learning before you start.
- Move it into your key — up or down six semitones, with the tempo untouched.
- Your songs stay on this device, so a whole set is one tap each next time, with its tempo, key and bookmarks remembered.
Files stay on your device. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.
Mark the bar that keeps catching you out, then jump back to it as often as you like — the click comes back in the right place, not at the top of a bar.
Take it slow enough to play it right, then bring it back up. The click follows, so the tempo you read is always the real one.
Your screen and your speakers each add lag the browser cannot report, and Bluetooth adds a lot. Calibrate once per device: tap along with the click and it measures the whole round trip, then remembers it. This only affects how Start Click and Re-sync Beat line up — the metronome itself is unchanged.
A local file is read in your browser and never uploaded. Loading a YouTube track connects your browser to YouTube — see Terms & Privacy.

Gap trainer
The track drops out for a few bars, then comes back — keep playing through the silence and find out whether you are still with it when it returns. Works with or without the click running: with it, the gaps land on bar lines; without it, they are timed off the track. Random gives you no warning at all.
